Audit Supervisor - Media/TV

Location

London, UK

Discipline

Audit

Salary

£55000 - £60000

Baker Thornton is recruiting an Audit Supervisor for a London practice with deep roots in the creative industries, especially television and broader media. You will run multiple audits end-to-end, be the day-to-day lead for clients, and coach a small team, building specialist know-how in Media/TV while keeping a balanced non-media portfolio. The firm promotes from within; this role is a clear runway to Manager.

What you’ll do
  • Own and supervise statutory audits under UK GAAP and ISAs from planning through completion, coordinating on-site and remote fieldwork.
  • Shape audit approaches for media clients: production/distribution revenue recognition, multi-episode contracts, deferred income, content cost capitalisation, royalties/participations, and project WIP.
  • First review of seniors’ and trainees’ work-papers; resolve issues early, keep files inspection-ready, and ensure methodology is followed.
  • Draft/review FRS 102 statutory accounts, group reporting packs, and clear, action-oriented management letters.
  • Run the engagement: budgets, milestones, WIP/billing, and stakeholder updates—keeping Partners and clients aligned.
  • Lead client relationships day-to-day: host planning meetings, manage PBC requests, present findings, and build trust with finance leaders and production teams.
  • Develop people: coach, brief, and on-the-job train juniors; support recruitment, induction, and knowledge-sharing.
  • Improve quality: contribute to audit innovation, templates, and best-practice play-books; support tenders when needed.

Requirements

What you’ll bring
  • ACA/ACCA qualified with c. 4–6+ years in external audit, including experience supervising small teams and signing off sections/files.
  • Media/TV exposure (production, post, distribution, advertising, or rights management) and a real interest in staying in this space.
  • Strong command of UK GAAP/FRS 102 and ISAs; comfortable tailoring risk assessments and testing strategies.
  • Track record in client handling, time/budget control, and clear written reports.
  • Good exam record (one or two resits is fine) and ongoing CPD.
  • Background fit for this brief: mid-tier or boutique practice profiles preferred; we are not progressing Big Four for this role.
  • Personable and sociable style suited to in-person client time and collaborative office culture.
  • Proficiency with audit software, portals, and Excel; right to work in the UK.
Working pattern
  • Hybrid, with regular office and client-site time—especially during planning, peak fieldwork, and close-out meetings.
Growth & progression
  • Structured coaching, partner visibility, and increasing portfolio scale. Clear path to Assistant Manager, then Audit Manager, once you’re embedded in the firm’s culture, systems, and approach.

  • Competitive base (higher with relevant PQE/media depth)

  • Professional subscriptions and CPD support
  • A sociable, quality-focused team working with well-known creative brands
